prayer

Today was the National Day of Prayer. A day that is dedicated to honoring God in prayer. We pray for families, friends, the nation and so many areas of life. ⁣

In the past I would “pray”, but to be honest I would mostly complain, grumble, wallow in self pity and express all of the fears that I had. I would close my prayer with "God if you loved me, I wouldn't feel this way". ⁣

While God wants to hear all of our heart’s desires and concerns, He began showing me that my prayers were giving him really nothing to work with. He can't work in fear (only faith) and he can't work through unforgiveness...that goes against His Word. In the Bible, the disciples asked Jesus, “how do we pray?” I remembered that so I thought, if they had to ask maybe I should ask too! ⁣

“Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Matthew‬ ‭6:9-13‬ ‭ESV‬‬⁣

I started digging into every word of this prayer and WOW, did God change my prayer life!⁣

So today if you don't know how or what to pray, this is a great starting point. Pray and let the Holy Spirit give you revelation of His living Word. ⁣

My hope is that we make everyday a day of prayer 🙏⁣

I love y'all,⁣
