Imitators of God
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV
Do y’all know Peppa Pig? It’s a popular British cartoon about a pig with a strong English accent. I read somewhere that American kids are starting kindergarten and speaking with a British accent! They are imitating what they have heard. Just like children, we also become imitators. It may not be a British accent but it could be a negative attitude, comparisons, being judgmental, etc.
Be careful who you’re listening to. The scripture says to be imitators of God. To imitate means that I spend a lot of time with Him and then I start acting, thinking, believing and speaking like Him. My accent sounds like forgiveness, hope, faith, contentment, love, joy, peace, self-control, patience (and West Texas!)
Who do you imitate? Is it friends, celebrities, the books you read, the movies you watch or is it God? I pray that we desire to have the character of God, a desire to know Him and a desire to speak His language!
I love y’all,
Dianna
